AJ Brown: I’m not a diva, but I really want the ball

FOX cameras caught Eagles receiver AJ Brown in a frenzy. Brown admitted Wednesday that he wants more opportunities.

But the Eagles ran 44 times and threw just 24 times in an easy 38-7 rout of the Giants.

“They throw me the ball 100 times, I want it 101 times,” Brown said, per Tim McManus of ESPN. “I personally feel like I can change the game at any time. Getting the ball gets you going a lot of the time, keeps you in rhythm. It definitely puts you in a zone; you’re locked in. I really want the ball.”

Eagles coach Nick Siriani spoke to Brown on the bench this week and indicated that Brown was frustrated with the targets. Brown caught three of six passes for 22 yards.

Siriani has defended his star receiver’s anger, though, saying he wants his receivers to “dream of football.”

Brown explained Wednesday that looking for the ball doesn’t make him a diva.

“I’m not a receiver that tries to go sideways or cause problems on the sideline. I’m not that guy,” Brown said. “I think that’s what you could describe as a diva, but I’m not that person.

“I’m the guy who goes up and talks to the quarterback [offensive coordinator] And do so. I’m not a side hustler. I am not who I am. I will never be that person.”

Brown, a first- and third-round pick of the Titans, finished fourth in the NFL with 1,496 receiving yards and third with 11 touchdowns.
